Sports have been a passion of mine since lacing up my ice skates for the first time, and aspiring to be Dorothy Hamill. The only child of a sports-obsessed dad led to hours at the ice rink, then Bobby Sox, high school softball, and onto UCLA with its rich sports history to cheer on. As you’re reading this, you’re likely recalling your own personal experiences filled with elation and defeat, as you grew to appreciate the spirit of competition and team play.
Fast forward to adult life. As an entrepreneur, I’ve been in countless conference rooms and new business meetings anxiously wondering what to use as an icebreaker, and sports have always been my lifeline. Ask a complete stranger about his or her beloved team, and watch a shift to an enthusiastic devotee.
Whether a first-time, casual or crazed fan, there are few events that bring family, friends and even foes together in such a winning and impassioned way as sports. So, let’s kickoff this first season of engaging fans at all levels from the whacky college and NFL seasons to NBA, MLB, NHL and so much more.
